So that was '14...

So guys, say goodbye to 2014. Well, a lot of stuff happened this year and I am *really* looking forward to 2015. (As a child of the 80's and 90's I am still mezmerized with
the 20xx year numbers..lol...star trek anyone??)

So I didnt want to post some dumb facebook "happy new year" sh*t, thats just not me.
Everybody else is doing that, so that should be enough for all ya "the book"-folks...

But to anyone visiting my blog and of course everybody that I know (and more important: like.. :) )
Have a nice rave tomorrow and arrive well and happy on the year 2015.

I will do so FOR SURE... :D

Keep on rockin' ,

General update on how things are going.

Well guys, here's an update on how things are going.
The new studio room is awesome, for the first time since
nearly two years I am having a real blast making music again!

(That basically translates to: "End of story" with melancholic trippy deep tracks.
Party and peaktime club stuff in in the making and I also got
a little bit faster and harder again with some tracks.)

I will still do some deeper tracks, but theese are more focused
in the real (oldschool) U.S. deep house style,
everything else will be more upfronting, streamlined and "in ya face".

Also I am back on Logic Pro X again and man, I should never have left it behind.
I am still veeery fast working with Logic and right now
I get stuff done in no time like back in the days.

Sounds like fun? Yeeeeesss indeed..... :D

Sky Ballad EP released!

My new EP "Sky Ballad" is *finally* released.
The tracks are indeed over a year old, but still pretty unique and special.

You can check them out on Beatport here:

New Studio Room

My new Studio-Room is nearly finished. I guess I need another week or so to move all my stuff in and connect it, so for the first time since spring 2013 I can start working again in a professional enviroment... I expect productions to speed up again soon after that, so yeah, I am quite happy right now because the last year and a half was a real struggle soundwise. Its just no fun when you cant turn up the volume and the sound is just shit... :)

Interview/Q&A Session (The deeper kind)

Here is a link to a more deeper, non-standart interview/Q&A with me bitchin' around a lot, talking about music I grew up with, studio-related stuff and other sh*t...

The first real full scale release in 2014. This time on BluFin with very nice and special remixes. I think we all tried to sound a bit off the "mainstream" on that one and I also think we succeeded... Let me know, what you think.. :)

400.000 plays on Soundcloud!

Hitting 400.000 plays on soundcloud this week.

Also average plays per day are up quite a bit in comparison
to a couple of months ago.

Thanks a lot guys, really!

You're keeping me working hard and motivated...

Lets see what I can come up with for you
in the next couple of weeks...

Facebook and this webpage. I'll keep you posted.

The worlds most important 6-sec drumloop (the AMEN BREAK)

Here is basically the most important video for all producers,

(hobbyists AND professionals) that sample stuff,

*especially * hip hop, jungle and breakbeat.

However, anyone who has a firm musical background in music

that uses drumloops in any way should watch this.

This is how the sh*t went down when one 6-sec drumloop changes the

whole music world decades later.

Basically instant history....

Bitwig-Review: My kinda "Rant-Review" on the release day...

Revision Sunday 30th of March 2014:

Mute regions inside of Clip:

Mute regions is actually possible. You have to open the Audio Event Inspector and press the "M" Button there. Well, not very convenient, but at least it's possible.

Same goes for fades, but actually I knew that fades where somehow possible, thats why I didnt include them in my "rant"

The Pencil-In-Bug is resolved. By the way, we are already 1.0.3, that means two updates in two days.
I hope they keep the pace so that we can actually see the full potential of the software quite soon.

But still more rant: It looks like there is no Midi-Out, even if they use VST as their standart and
there also is NO support for multitimbral instruments and also NO support for multi-outs!

That means "Hello Bitwig, goodbye Kontakt, Maschine and the likes../"

Have phun...

Original post starts here:

Oh man. I was freaking out today when I actually got Bitwig in my hands.
The first hour or two were so awesome that I was blind to a lot (!) of things.

Then there came the first letdown. Then the next one.
I ended up being kinda disappointed, because my expectations were so high.

But hey, we are talking a 1.0 release, aren' t we?
So it's really a very nice piece of software we have here, however,
there are some things that are plainly disappointing.

Sooo...  this is what I wrote as a comment on youtube (Yeah, waaay too much, that's why I decided to put it in here as well....

We are talking version 1.0.2 here:

My 2ct: Very very nice peace of software, a lot of really good stuff in there already.

*however* , just to let some of you guys know,
so you don't get too much overhyped:

- No autosave. No project backups. You better use save-as from time to time.

- No Folders/Nested folders.

- No grouping function. (Neither clips, tracks or faders)

- Modular Stuff not implemented yet. So forget about that for a while as well.

- No previous/next sample buttons in the sampler or drum rack.

- No EXS Import. None. No import at all so far as I can see.

- No Rewire

- No Audio Units

- No Groovetemplates

- *No* input quantize?! Really? Must miss something.
Tell me where it is please....

- Looks like there is no dedicated "hot swap" mode or something similar.
You need to delete stuff and add stuff again. Pretty time-consuming.

- For first timers: Good luck finding your device-presets.. :D

- Key-commands and general mouse behavior very strange sometimes.
For example: Doubleclicking resets (!) value. alt-click (which is usually reset    everywhere else)  is for entering values.

- Looks like no skinning of the basic look.
The look that you see is what you get. Would be very sad indeed.

- Very limited (and really too funky colors)  to choose from for your clips    and/or tracks

- No keyboard shortcut to rename or right-click context menu to rename clips, only    tracks. You have to click the clip, go to the inspector and do it from there.

- No mute/solo keyboard shortcuts.

- No mute/solo of audio regions/audio events/any regions/events (!!)

- Double clicking on a loop/sample in the browser will do nothing btu play it.
It wont create a new track and adds the loop/sample. .
Dropping it right next to the browser also doesnt work.
You have to drop it on the *left half* of your screen so that actually
a new track gets created and the loop gets added. Whoa.

- In general operating BW requires a lot of mouse hovering and back-and-forth   over  the whole screen,  which is time-consuming and *very*  straining on your  mouse-hand (!!)

- (add to that) Very limited keyboard-commands. Oh man. Again.

- pg up/down doesn't work in the browser.
Its locked to track selection... (Huh ???)
So have fun grabbing those way too tiny scroll-bars.

- Metadata-Browser basically useless.
(That was a real frustrating experience   for me in particular!)
Looks like you can't add your own tags can only choose from a very limited selection AND it works only for devices and  presets AND *NOT*  for  your  100GB sample library (which would make TONS of more sense theese days, i.e. look how ace cubase handles that.)

- Hitpoint detection sometimes waaaay off, when zoomed in.

- Looks like FX menu on rightclick includes only bigwig devices. you want your vst on right click? Seems like you have to pedal all to the right to the browser and get it there.

- Looks like no fast way to "pencil in" stuff in the piano roll. Double-Click galore all over the place. Not sure though,  (hopefully) might miss something here.

- Looks like we have a (to some users of another application) well known PDC    problem on the sends also, not really sure right now though, because on the first run I had (in a row):

 1)  Hard Crashed on Soundtoys Echoboy Duplication on send (every time, so   bug,   despite "Sandbox"!)
  2) Audio Engine Crash on PSP608 Multidelay on deleting that one from the     send.
  3) Audio Engine Crash on Nomad Factory Liquid Delays.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Bitwig seems to be the first DAW where you (at least on OSX) can't drag n drop audio files from the finder into the application! Now, what the hell?!

Also the VST plug-in list is a HUUUGE MESS! So hopefully you do not have too many plugins like I have....

And at last: Parts of the manual are a joke.
For example, thats what is written in there about the sampler:

" Sampler: A sampler that can handle single or multiple samples (with a
resizable mapping editor) and has a seven-mode filter and numerous
  modulation sources. "

That's it.Really. No sh*t. :)

But besides all of this. Honestly: I *STILL* believe, its a very nice 1.0 release
and a great upcoming software package.

But Ableton killer right out of the box?
(I expected that like a lot of other people as well)

Noooooo way :D
And if someone figures out how to *change* a freaking keycommand, please leave a comment here, because it looks like right now you *can not* :p

So happy (double) clicking, because believe me, you *will* click *a lot*.

Just Another Groove (Lovebeat EP) enters Beatport Techno Top 100

Just Another Groove, Part of the Lovebeat EP that was released on Frequenza last monday
entered Beatport Techno Top 100 on Friday on #93 and is now on #80.
We will see what will happen next.

By the way:

The Dub City Remix that was released a couple of weeks ago peaked on #11, so I missed Top 10 by one place, darn.. :)

Junge & Maedchen "Alter Knochen" Lutzenkirchen Remix on BluFin (Release 28th of February)

Lovebeat EP (Frequenza) is released.

The Lovebeat EP that I did for Frequenza Italy was released on monday.

You can get it on Beatport here:

New Session Mix online on Soundcloud

Very different mix this time.

Some really freaky stuff in there also,

but I wanted it to turn out that way.

Pretty trippy, but I am quite satisfied with the result... :)

Check it out yourself.

Remix of DubCity enters Beatport Techno Top 100 on #14.

The Dub City Remix is climbing up the Beatport Techno Top 100 Charts.

Its on #14 now. I am very happy about this, this is the first Top50 since quite a while.

Like I posted on Facebook, it looks like my skillset is slowly coming back, which I am

very very happy about.

So lets see that the future brings. :)

Next EP in February.

Hey all,

here's a little preview of my 2nd EP for this year,
and yes, the vocals on Lovebeat is me.

Some updates... (Part 2)

In February there will be my next EP, this time on Frequenza Italy.

It's called "Lovebeat EP" and is a pretty nice and unusual one.

Also it looks like it will come with cool remixes from

M.In, Patrick Kunkel & 212 Farenheit,

Irregular Synth and the great Broombeck.

I also have signed two tracks to Blu Fin (kind of a home-label for me)

which I am very excited about,

since the last release on BluFin was one of the two last ones

before I stopped producing and took my time out.

Also we are still waiting for the last remix of the LXR single,

so that we can (re-)launch my LXR moniker.

I hope that will happen soon now.

Some updates / whats next... (Part 1)

Small update:

There will be a Lutzenkirchen remix of Robert Babicz new single

on Tulipa Recordings Saint Louis / USA (alongside with German Brigante)

which is very cool indeed.

As soon as I am allowed to post a preview on Soundcloud I will do so.

Small things that make me happy...

I remember when I took over all this online stuff myself and

restarted producing nearly 4 months ago

that I was afraid that everybody will jump ship & run away,

especially on Soundcloud.

I knew it would take time for me to find back into old

skillsets and workflows. It still does.

I was expecting people to walk away from that new sound.

Expected my SC site to drop at least below 14K first,

if not below 13K be honest.

Well you guys didn't walk away, on the contrary.

Today crossed 15K on Soundcloud.

Never thought of hitting the 15.000 Follower-Mark

on Soundcloud so quickly.

Thank you all for your support,

this *really* means a lot to me.

Lutzenkirchen - Snoop (Rythm District 06 / Toolroom Records)

Well, I was surprised myself, out of the blue the compilation track I did a while ago

for the Rythm District compilation was released today.

Nice timing, exactly one week before my Humm EP will be released on Donkeyhead Records.

I will post more news here soon, I am just pretty busy at the moment, which is quite nice and

the new year has just begun.

However, there is still more to come, so stay sharp.. :)

Below you find the link to the whole Rythm District 06 Compilation on Beatport.

Pretty nifty tracklist/artists...
